Mardi Himal trek is a relatively novel trek in the Annapurna Region. The beauty of this trek has yet to be flourished to the majority of the travelers. When it comes to Trek and expedition, most of the people promptly think about Annapurna or Everest region, which are filled by a large number of visitors and if you want to elude such crowds and thinking about serenity of Himalayan with a few fellow travel enthusiast this could be a perfect option.

The trail is meandering gently through small paths followed by Dense Rhododendron Forest until an altitude of 3,300 meters in height. You will be surprised by the abrupt change of Landscape into a craggy high landscape with awe-inspiring scenes of Annapurna South, Mardi Himal, Fishtail, and Hiunchuli.

In order to observe spectacular close-up views of the entire Annapurna Range from Mardi Himal Base Camp( ), you only need to walk around 3- 4 hours from High Camp( 3700 meter).

Although it is in the Annapurna Region, it is situated in the other dimension of the well-known Annapurna Base Camp and Poon Hill. That is why only a few trekkers ever make a way to Mardi Himal Base Camp. The astonishing view of Mount Fishtail (Machhapuchre) and Mardi Himal is the center of attraction for all visitors. This is the shortest trek you can complete in Nepal in order to get the Base of Himalayas.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01

Drive to Kande and trek to Deurali/ Pothana

Our trekking officially starts from Pokhara, after 50 minutes drive we will reach Kande from where we start hiking. The real trek commences from Kande, after one and half hours of the walk our next destination is Australian Camp at 2000 meters. Beautiful forest, small wooden bridges, and attractive steps bolster your trek. Australian Camp is the perfect place to view Pokhara valley and the Panorama of Annapurna Range. The rhododendron forest provides aesthetic pleasure and makes us follow the small trails to Deurali which only takes around two hours from the Australian camp. From Deurali we can see wide-angle view of Annapurna South, Mardi Himal, and Fishtail mountain.

Day 02

Trek to the Low Camp

Even though the freshness and beauty of Deurali village pulled your attraction tightly, we have to make our way to Low Camp followed by birds’ euphonious singing and the scenic view of Mother Nature.

After around 4 hours, mesmerizing view of the mountain happens to appear just in front of us, which indicates that we finally are at our destination for the day (Low Camp).

Day 03

Trek to the High Camp

Maximum altitude: 3,700 m, High Camp

Starting from low camp, we move up the steep hill for around 1.5 hours to reach middle camp.

This day is the most important day of our trip since Mardi Himal Base Camp is our destination. A steady walk of 4- 5 hours towards uphill lead us to High Camp. Bushes of Rhododendron trees, variegated Danphes (Nepali National Birds), and the aroma of Himalaya expedite our trekking into a memorable experience.

Majestic views of Mardi Himal, Hiuchuli, Fishtail, and Annapurna South clearly define the true value of High Camp and it projects the pleasure of paradise.

Day 04

Hike to the Mardi Base Camp and trek down to Siding

Maximum altitude: 4,500 m, Mardi Base Camp

Steep up and more walking hours make our trip more difficult and longer in comparison to other days. After walking for 2 hours make completion of the first phase of Camp, known as the Mardi Himal Base Camp(MBC). However, after another 2 hours of climbing will take to Real Mardi Himal Base Camp.

Day 05

Drive back to Pokhara

We finally come to end our trip. We will make our way back to Lumre from where we have to catch a jeep ride back to Pokhara and it will take around an hour to get Pokhara.
